About the Role

YourStaffGroup, part of Social Work Partners (SWP), is looking for passionate and experienced SEN Tutors to deliver high-quality one-to-one tuition to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, schools, and other educational partners, you will provide personalised learning to pupils who may be unable to attend mainstream education due to SEND, SEMH, anxiety, medical needs, exclusion, or other barriers to learning.

As a 1:1 SEN Tutor, you will create engaging, tailored learning programmes that help pupils build confidence, make academic progress, and achieve positive educational outcomes in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition tailored to each learner’s individual needs and abilities.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver personalised lessons in line with the National Curriculum where appropriate.
• Adapt teaching methods and resources to support a range of learning needs and abilities.
• Support pupils with SEND including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and other additional needs.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
• Monitor, assess, and record academic progress, providing regular feedback and reports.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, Local Authorities, and other professionals.
• Maintain accurate session records and complete all required documentation.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
• Experience delivering one-to-one tuition, teaching, or educational support.
• Excellent knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to differentiate learning to meet individual needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to travel to learners within your local area.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Degree in Education or a relevant subject.
• Experience working with Local Authorities or Alternative Provision.
• Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Experience supporting learners with EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance), school refusal, or those at risk of exclusion.
